Experience our 360° service using the example of the HMI demonstrator developed in-house.

Project start

For us, a project often starts with a simple hand sketch. It was the same when developing the concept for our own modular HMI demonstrator.

CAD design

In the design department, the proportions and dimensions are defined in CAD and initial design solutions are developed for the individual components. Here, the design concept is also evaluated and finally developed using computer renderings.

Application technology

Our application technology defines the materials and processes for implementation. The selection of suitable raw glass and the coating required for the application, e.g. special anti-reflective coatings for optimal display of the display and an elegant appearance when off, play an essential role.

Electronics development

Thanks to our IMPAtouch technology platform, we can print and assemble both the conductor tracks and electronic components directly onto the back of the front glass. The necessary layout and circuitry are developed in-house.

Screen and digital printing

With our multi-layer prints made from ceramic inks, we can functionalize glass using screen or digital printing. To do this, we use our high-resolution screen printing in a clean room, in which we can print with an accuracy of 50 µm. The front glass of the modular HMI demonstrator is printed with 9 individual layers using this process.

Electronics on glass

The toughened safety glass (TSG) with the printed conductor tracks can be further processed like a conventional circuit board. The front glass of our demonstrators is equipped with LEDs, a microprocessor and other electronic components in an SMD process and then soldered using the reflow process.

Optical bonding

Touch sensors and displays are optically bonded for optimum presentation. This means that there is no longer an air gap between the front glass, sensor and display. As a result, there are no more disturbing reflections at the boundary layers of the individual components.

CNC manufacturing

With our wide range of options at modern CNC turning and milling centers, we produce complex metal and plastic parts. We manufacture the aluminum housing parts for our HMI demonstrator in-house using a state-of-the-art 5-axis milling machine.

Assembly of components

The first prototypes of our HMI demonstrator are assembled under laboratory conditions in the electronics development department.
Depending on requirements, we offer customized solutions for the assembly of series products, including automated processes under clean room conditions.

Softwares

Thanks to our software experts in electronics development, we can program both the functions of the control knob on the touch sensor and the graphical user interface in our company.

Custom HMIs

With our modular HMI demonstrator, we are showing by way of example the enormous design potential for embedded HMIs we can offer designers and developers. For example, the shape can be freely adjusted and yet fully used as a touch. It is also easy to integrate additional control elements.
