50 years of Schott AG and Irlbacher

On the road to success with special glass for over 50 years


The more than 50-year business relationship between Schönseer-based specialty glass company Irlbacher and Mainzer Schott AG, a globally active technology group, shows how economic growth works in Upper Palatinate.

Ingo Steinfeld from Schott AG's Glass Ceramic Sales Department presents the certificate of thanks to senior manager Josef Irlbacher, who initiated the partnership in 1972. To score points with innovative glass products in a wide variety of markets and countries is both a motto and a recipe for success at the Irlbacher family business. This has also inspired the more than 50-year partnership celebrated this year with Schott, which covers around 20% of the business volume. With over 17,000 employees, Schott is a leading international technology group based in Mainz in the areas of material innovations, specialty glass and glass ceramics.
